So our brand new ward choir got off to quite a rocky start last week. The person directing had a last minute medical emergency, and we only had the backup pianist. If you had sung the song before, you were elected to direct. I directed the version of "Come Let Us Adore Him" which is pretty but tricky. We never did get the tricky parts down at all.
This week the director had her brother, who does musical theater in New York, direct us. He managed to get us all opening up our vowels the same way, following him on dynamics, and some on tempo, and even alter the character of our sound. He was funny too. It was quite amazing. I hope that some of that carries over, and that more tenors come too.
